Samsung Illusion
Samsung Illusion is compact and comfortably fits in the hand and it is just 0.47 inches thick. It weighs nearly 4.02 oz. The overall body has plastic feel with a nice grip on the back. The phone looks sturdy and is built for the day to day outdoor challenge.
The Samsung Illusion has a 3.5 inches TFT display that has a HVGA resolution (320 x 480 pixels). The display is on the smaller side in comparison to other popular phones yet it is known to produce sharp looking images and text. The display has only one drawback; you can barely see a thing in direct sunlight.
The phone is quick and does not display any consistent visible lag since it is loaded with 1 GHz Hummingbird processor with PowerVR SGX 540 GPU. However there is just 512 MB RAM.
Below the display we have four capacitive buttons for menus, home, back & search. On the left of the display we have a volume rocker and the micro SD memory card slot, which comes with a 2GB card pre-installed. Up on top is the 3.5 mm headset jack. On the right we have the power / lock key and on the bottom we have a microUSB port.
Samsung Illusion Camera
The Samsung Illusion is loaded with a 3MP camera. The camera and the external speaker are present on the back of the phone. The camera software is easy to use and offers settings for different modes, scenes, resolutions, white balance and color effects. The 3MP produces average outdoor and indoor images, but you really can’t expect too much from a 3 MP camera. Videos can be recorded at 720 x 480 resolutions and again the quality is average.
Samsung Illusion and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread
The Samsung Illusion is powered by Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Like all other Samsung phones it features Samsung’s Touch wiz interface. There are four basic icons at the bottom of the display meant for phone, contacts, messaging and applications.
The call quality on this phone is certainly up to the mark, the voices on both ends are very clear. There is a 1500 mAh battery inside which provides nearly 6 hours of talk time or 10 days of standby time. With average usage which consists of talk, email, web, apps and standby the battery lasted 11 to 12 hours.
On the whole, the Samsung Illusion is a compact and capable Smartphone. Its biggest drawback is the 512 MB RAM.
