Nokia Lumia 800
With the rise of Android and Symbian being en-route to extinction, Nokia needed something to save itself the blushes. Nokia is known for its hardware and with collaboration with Microsoft, Nokia’s Windows Phones Nokia Lumia 800 have just hit the market.
The Nokia Lumia 800 looks similar to the Meego based N9. Lumia is powered by a 1.4GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon/Scorpion processor and 512 RAM. There are no lags or freezes in the Lumia and performance is free from these hiccups.
A major disadvantage of Windows Mango is that it doesn’t support dual core processors as yet. Lumia 800 screen size is smaller compared to other Windows Mango phones like HTC Titan. At 3.7inches, the Lumia feels rather small in front of the Titan, which stands 4.7 inches tall. The world is moving towards larger displays for a better internet and media experience. Nokia needs to be made aware of this. The Super AMOLED display in the Lumia 800 is impressive and showcases Windows Mango tiles quite well.
Nokia Lumia 800 Has an Elegant Look
Nokia has done a great job in giving the Lumia a unique look, quite different from anything they’ve made before. The curved glass display on a smooth body feels firm in hand. The scratch resistant Gorilla glass further complements the display. Just like the display, Windows Mango interface is very different as well. Mango works on the concept of application tiles instead of the traditional home screen.
Battery, Storage and Camera
Nokia Lumia 800 packs in 16GB of internal storage. Battery life on the Lumia is decent and last around 7 hours on a single charge and average usage. The 8MP camera works well but cannot be compared to that on the iPhone and Samsung S2.The phone provides a good internet experience with websites loading quickly on its default browser. The lack of a front camera is a concern.
The Lumia 800 is an impressive device. A device that has good hardware specs to complement the latest Windows Mango. The OS is new, but there are around 40,000 apps for it already. Mango definitely has the features and spunk to survive in the competitive market. The big question however is, whether people would skip Android for a Windows Mango device.
The price tag on the Nokia Lumia 800 is close to that of the Samsung Galaxy S2, which is currently rated as one of the best Smartphones out there. Although the Nokia Lumia 800 has some good features, it’s difficult to recommend it over the Samsung S2. It completely depends on buyers, but I’d like to say, Windows Phones are back in the game!
