iPhone 4s

iPhone is always the star of the phone world. The launch on iPhone 4S instead of the rumored iPhone 5, was quite a surprise to the masses. With the initial disappointment now worn off, iPhone 4S features are now out in the open.

Before we delve further into discussion, let me briefly point out some of the changes that Apple has brought in with 4S. An improvement in the camera [now 8MP], a dual core A5 processor, a seven-fold increment in graphics processing power and of course Siri- your own virtual assistant.

iPhone 4s exterior look

The exterior design of the iPhone 4S is very similar to that of the iPhone 4. The screen size is 3.5 inches with a 640 x 960 pixels resolution. The screen is small when compared to devices like the Samsung S2, but still looks great due to the Retina Display. There is a slight increase in weight, but that’s hardly noticeable.

The microSim slot is on the right of the device and the left side has the volume buttons, the camera shutter and the silencer key which toggles the ‘Silent Mode’ easily. The apple connector and dual speakers lie at the bottom.

iOS 5 embeded into iPhone 4s

The iPhone 4S comes loaded with iOS 5, which was released around June 2011. The new OS has some major improvements with Siri being the most noteworthy. Siri is a revolutionary voice recognition system which makes is extremely simple to operate the iPhone through voice commands. You need a running Wi-Fi or 3G connection to make sure Siri can process your commands and give expected responses. Siri can interpret voice instructions and send SMSes and emails, find restaurants, get directions and much more. The feature is intelligent enough to understand variances in commands and does not require you to speak is a fixed format.

Battery & Camera

The battery on the 4S is more powerful than that on the iPhone 4. However, the A5 processor consumes more battery than the single core predecessors. The camera is a marked improvement. The 8MP camera along with an improved sensor takes impressive pictures. Auto-focus, flash and facial recognition are all good. Video recording at 1080p with image stabilization is also possible.

An excellent Retina Display, a capable camera, an improved processor and brilliant voice recognition makes it one of the best phones to be released in recent times. Though the ones who already own an iPhone 4 could consider only the iOS 5 upgrade, others should definitely run to the stores and get the iPhone 4S.
